A volunteer is like a flower

Volunteering is the most noble form of giving, and a volunteer is like a flower. We appreciate the blossom, the fragrance and the uplifting sensation beautiful flowers bring to our lives. Nature has given us so many gifts and the ultimate is flowering!

The world is a great place to be in simply because we as social beings stand up and do our bit without any form of gratification and are often very passionate and caring too. Simple reaction to help anyone in distress, the care for animals, the care of the elderly, love of a teacher for the pupil, dedicated customer care and even a loving look are all voluntary actions for us; this is really what makes the world a better place to live in.

"Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others without being motivated by financial or material gain. Volunteering generally considered an altruistic activity, intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. People also volunteer to gain skills without requiring an employer's financial investment.

Volunteering takes many forms and is performed by a wide range of people. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work in, such as medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Others volunteer on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster". - excerpts from  Wikipedia and dictionaries

Some feel volunteering is a service, while many see it as a reaction, yet some see this as a way of overcoming prejudice and affirm a feeling of humbleness. The need for volunteers in any form of distress and challenge is much appreciated and even eulogized. In this material world it is often said we do nothing for free, and this sometime challenges the spirit of volunteering.

We as humans are caring and born with an inner sense of love and feeling for our community, thus volunteering can never be paid for or given any material value, it is the inherent duty of any and every individual. If it would not have been for our volunteers the world would have seen more strife and misery. We have organizations and social service bodies that have institutionalized  the role of volunteers and do value them tremendously. In our world today more than ever we need each one to volunteer and work for joy and happiness for all.

Volunteer is an individual who values time and loves life!
